'White Christmas'

Let It Snow
My 'Let it Snow' Wood slices are about how beautiful it is when it's snowing, as well as showing the joy that has been left behind from earlier in the day, the snowman.
The Textured snow helps define and add a slight depth to the snow, which is something I loved creating. After I had created my first design, I couldn't help but feel starstruck picturing these wood slices hung up on a tree, among all the other decorations. I remember one time when it snowed, I went outside and made my first snow angel, after dressing up in my hat, coat, gloves and scarf, on top of my PJ's, of course not forgetting my shoes. I must have been 6 or 7 at the time. I also remember there being barely enough snow to make a snowman, but somehow my dad managed to create one, however, there was a lot of green surrounding the snow figure from all the snow he'd pulled up to make this snowman.

Shiny Bauble

Presents, Present or Presence
‘Presents, present or presence’ is a painting about whether the idea of the word ‘present’ is misunderstood. Has it been said wrong all these years? Has it been spelt wrong? Or has it been taken wrong?
Shouldn’t Christmas be not just about the gifts, but about the people in the present but also in their presence?
The reflection of the bauble shows that a Christmas tree has the best seat in the house. A tree and all its decorations get to see the tears of joy, the welcoming of long-awaited relatives and the squeals of delight as you see your friends at the bottom of the drive.
For me, as I mature, I’ve come to realise that Christmas is a way for a busy schedule to be put aside, and a time of year to see those whom we miss and cherish. Gifts are just a bonus, not a festive necessity.

With Bated Breath
My painting ‘With Bated Breath’ reminds me of how anxious and excited I would get awaiting the arrival of my friends and family. I feel it shows just how important family and friends are. By dressing up their houses they help bring that Festive spirit to ourselves and those we see. Most households make a commitment and work hard to make Christmas that extra special for the ones they love, which then becomes a time of happiness, excitement and family. Sometimes, I think we need to be reminded of that.

A Community that Dazzles
One of the first things that I think about when the festive season is approaching is driving through the streets, and seeing all the houses, lit up with festive designs and shiny, bright lights. It makes me feel proud to be a part of a community, and that together we appreciate this time together, and aim to spread the Christmas spirit to all those who pass by.
The snow on this piece is like a fresh memory of the fun the family or household has had earlier that day, and when day turns to night, the snowfall is so stunning that all together, it’s a mixture of experiences and emotions.
Driving around to see the Christmas lights is something I aim to do this Christmas to aid my recovery of being housebound since 2018.

Christmas Miracle
'Christmas Miracle’ was made with the story of a friend or family member being able to deliver a Christmas better than any of the years before, despite the upside-down world in 2020, in mind. This can be shown with the figure in the window, to the left. ‘Christmas Miracle’ is to help remind that if we adapt to our world’s current situation or any situation, we can still have an extravagant and memorable time. One for the History Books.

The Letters of Christmas
'The Letters of Christmas' is a painting about the written letters that are sent to the Northpole every year, containing the hopes, dreams and goals of a young mind, followed by traditions, the many different cultures we have in this world, family backgrounds and so much more.
I remember writing my letters to Santa with my hopes and dreams as a child, most of which were asking for a pony, which seemed to become my Christmas letter tradition. Although now I don't write these letters, and I've long ago realised that a pony of my own might not be the best suit for me, I work hard to make my dreams, hopes and goals come through. I wonder if this is something I have learnt to do from my Letters of Christmas.
